Lola Vista
Lola Vista can be found playing in London and New York City, where she has lived for nearly 20 years. Her sonic storytelling moves from 70s jazz-funk and soul, through 80s boogie, onto 90s neo-soul and conscious hip hop, weaving West African and Latin rhythms in the mix at the same time.
She is a lifelong music lover and musician: singing, songwriting, composing and playing saxophone and keys, having grown up in a vinyl-filled house due to her Dad being a DJ back in the day.
After graduating from Cambridge University, Lola worked in the music industry at Atlantic Records in TV + Radio Promotions, working with artists such as Missy Elliott and Sean Paul and then at Ministry of Sound - putting on and coordinating MoS's events in Europe and the UK and booking DJs - before moving into managing large-scale, award-winning global music events.
She also has a background as a professional social, cultural and political commentator, writer and broadcaster (under the name Lola Adesioye). Her writing has been published in The Guardian, The New Statesman, The Economist, The Atlantic and many more. Over the years, she has appeared regularly on TV and radio including on CNN, MSNBC, BBC, Al Jazeera and many more, discussing UK and US politics and culture. She has interviewed artists such as rapper Common and Questlove of The Roots.
Lola sees music as a beautiful amalgamation of the social, cultural and political - as the truest reflection of life as it is as well as its possibilites. In 2022, Lola was awarded an Artist Fellowship for music by the National Arts Club in New York City.
