Top 25 Camping Sites in the UK
We enjoyed a long stay, using Wild Canvas as our summer holiday venue! We camped right next to the beautiful river (fun for fishing, jumping in and paddle boarding) and had a great stay. The food options were delicious and varied and the kids spent hours happily playing in the ‘Den’ - a yurt for kids to hang out, for the various clubs and activities etc. The crew running the site are lovely and there’s a friendly, laid back feel. We would definitely recommend a stay.
5 star camping at the wonderful Wild Canvas. Lovely vibes, gorgeous swimming in the clean river, good mix of kids activities, great food and welcoming friendly staff. Oh and the music is pretty awesome also!

The organisers of the Tipi Field at Glastonbury have provided accommodation for a sweet temporary camping spot on the banks of the River Great Ouse. The beautiful parkland of the Turvey House estate is the backdrop for low-key fun in the form of DJ sessions, meals at the pop-up cafe and drinks at the outdoor bar.
“The big music festivals may have been cancelled this year but that doesn’t mean you can’t still find a campsite with a family festival atmosphere. Wild Canvas have set about offering exactly that, with tipis from the organisers of the Tipi Field at Glastonbury Festival and a concoction of local food, family-friendly workshops and small-scale DJ sessions.
For a focus on activities, look to this fresh pop-up campsite in the verdant grounds of Bedfordshire’s Turvey House estate. It’s run along the lines of a festival, with a rotation of family-friendly and wellness-based workshops on the bill, from nature walks and SUP sessions to daily yoga. Meanwhile, on the menu are the obligatory wood-fired pizzas and burgers from cult restauranteur Patty & Bun.
Our four teen boys spent their days messing about on the River Ouse that runs through the parkland – hurling themselves from the banks with vigorous war cries, swimming amidst the huge dragonflies, skimming stones and hitching rides aboard paddle boards and canoes.
We came in July 2021 and loved it....so we came back in August and loved it even more!!! Swimming, paddle boarding, Yoga, Arts and Crafts, lots of lovely food, lots of lovely people......and The Mad Professor to top it all off. Thank you.
Lovely friendly, relaxed but organised staff, amazing location, simply laid out and well thought out. Thank you, I'm coming back! Tips for other travellers. Get a paddle board, I did! The river has all the beauty, entertainment, and contemplation you need in a holiday.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for such an amazing and special stay. My family and I loved the community vibe you've created at your site. The wood fired pizzas and your bar was fantastic and what a treat for families having that many activities available to them on a daily basis. The buggy ride was a special touch as well! We loved not having to go off site and having everything on our doorstep. As well as a river to paddle in!
It was a great experience - beautiful setting with like minded people and I have been telling all my friends about I and am coming back with people in a few weeks. Thank you Wild Canvas! - Tips for other travellers. The wild swimming and kayaking were great and loved the party vibe at the weekends with dis perfect blend of fun and family vibes.

The camping fields are set in beautiful, grassy and flat riverside meadows, bordered by ancient woodland, historic parkland and big open skies.
Out of bounds for hundreds of years, the banks along this stretch of the River Great Ouse have been virtually unvisited by the public, and are still home to vibrant Kingfishers, flashes of dragonflies and a family of swans.
