Johnny Reckless

Approaching his 40th year of DJ’ing and highly respected by his DJ peers, Johnny Reckless is one of London's original underground club DJ’s. Having collected records since the late 70s, in the mid 80’s Johnny formed two sound systems - Space and then The Off Beat Crew . In the early 90s, Johnny started playing at various club nights: Omega at the Brain Club alongside Maurice Watson (RIP); Wig-Wam at the Jazz Corner in Ladbroke Grove with Maurice Watson and AJ; Horny at Legends; the Satellite Club at the Colosseum in Vauxhall, and also was one of the early DJ’s at Garage City. Johnny was playing in Hoxton long before it became the new West End, he played at iconic clubs - Transit at Plastic People, Herbal, Club 333, Hoxton Pimps warehouse parties and various other underground clubs, plus oversea’s gigs at various venues & club nights including No Joke in Switzerland alongside Bert Bevans, Kenny Carpenter and Rob Maynard. In 1995 Johnny started a club night with Marcia Carr and Michael Morley. From its beginnings, See The Light became the place to be for any discerning house head on a Friday night. With a music policy ranging from New York Disco to New Jersey House - Names such as Kerri Chandler, Phil Asher (RIP), DJ Camacho (RIP), Jazz n Groove, Jeremy Newall, Seamus Haji, Joey Negro, Gusto, Deli G, Ricky Morrison, Dino and Terry all played at See The Light. Throughout the 2000’s Body Music and Soul Brew/Doctors Orders added Johnny to their DJ roster, including a residency at Madame JoJo's at a night called Life and Soul where Johnny played alongside DJ Spinna, Pete BBE, Kyri R2, Jeremy Newall, Andrew Bird & Spin Doctor. Johnny also had his own promotions at the Embassy Bar, Plastic People and various one off parties. From 2010, Johnny played at: ’Independent Movement Parties’ & Brilliant Corners where he played alongside SADAR BAHRAR; Nick the Record, Mark Gurney. He played at Plastic People; East Village; The Gate in Notting Hill plus various clubs and parties. Now Johnny Reckless continues to guest at various clubs and festivals, alongside DJ’s Louie Vega, Sadar Bahar, Marc Mac, Kai Alce’, DJ Spinna, Kerri Chandler, Jihad Muhammad, Paul Trouble Anderson(RIP), Kyri R2, John Morales; Kenny Dope, Ashley Beedle, Phil Asher (RIP), Nacho Larache, Bobby & Steve, Jeremy Newall, Seamus Haji, Ricky Morrison, The Mighty Zaf, Neil Pierce, Sy Sez, Maria Carr and Norman Jay amongst others. Johnny plays solo sets at various members clubs and hotel lounge bars including: THE STANDARD HOTEL, SWEETIES, THE HOUSE OF ST BARNABAS, LAYLOW, SOHO HOUSE, 76 DEAN STREET, WHITE CITY HOUSE, SPIRITLAND & BIRCH. Johnny is the founder of the club concept FOUR DIRECTIONS and is part of the BBE music family. BBE family have a joint stage with Love Vinyl at WE OUT HERE festival.
